The stars are aligning in New York for the 2025 Met Gala — and this year, the focus is sharp, tailored, and unapologetically black.
Formula One icon Lewis Hamilton joins Pharrell Williams, LeBron James, Colman Domingo, and A$AP Rocky as co-chairs of this year’s Met Gala, placing a powerful spotlight on the influence of Black culture and menswear in fashion history.
The theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, draws inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s seminal work Slaves to Fashion, exploring centuries of Black dandyism and its cultural legacy. With a dress code of “Tailored for You”, this is the first time in over two decades the Met Gala has centered exclusively on menswear — and it’s doing so with purpose, pride, and precision.
“This theme is not only timely,” said Gala committee member Usher, “but also speaks to our rich culture that should always be widely celebrated.”
The celebration extends beyond the red carpet. The host committee features Black excellence across fields — from Simone Biles and Spike Lee to Janelle Monáe, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and André 3000 — uniting in a night that honors heritage, style, and identity.
Held annually on the first Monday in May, the Met Gala is the pinnacle of fashion spectacle. While the event itself is closed to the public, the red carpet will stream live via Vogue, E! Online, Peacock, and across social mediWhether you’re tuning in or catching up online, prepare for an unforgettable celebration — where Black style, elegance, and innovation take center stage.
