BlumFest 2025 kicked off with a bang during New York Comic Con on Friday night, as Blumhouse celebrated its 15th anniversary by teasing two of its most anticipated horror sequels: The Black Phone 2 and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.
Producer and Blumhouse founder Jason Blum opened the panel with a forward-looking message about the next generation of horror. “What I’m really looking forward to is meeting and hopefully producing the next generation of horror,” he said. “Working with young people who have vision and energy — that’s the most exciting part of my job.”
One of the night’s biggest surprises was the announcement that Megan Fox has joined the voice cast of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, taking on the role of Toy Chica. The sequel to the 2023 box office hit will continue the haunted animatronic saga, with several new voice talents being revealed exclusively during the panel.
Fox’s casting drew cheers from fans and added fresh star power to the growing franchise. While plot details remain tightly under wraps, the sneak peek footage confirmed a darker, more intense sequel is on the way.
On the Black Phone 2 front, Ethan Hawke, who portrayed the chilling villain “The Grabber” in the original film, made a surprise appearance alongside returning stars Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw. Hawke teased his return in the sequel, offering only cryptic hints: “Let’s just say… he’s not quite done yet.”
The original Black Phone, based on Joe Hill’s short story, became a breakout hit in 2022, blending supernatural horror with emotional storytelling. Fans at the panel were treated to an exclusive teaser, hinting that the sequel will delve deeper into the Grabber’s origins — and perhaps blur the line between life and death even further.
BlumFest’s NYCC panel wasn’t just a celebration of past success but a showcase of what’s next for the studio that helped redefine modern horror. From new faces like Megan Fox stepping into genre roles to veteran talent like Hawke returning for more twisted thrills, Blumhouse appears set to continue its reign in the horror world.
With FNAF 2 and The Black Phone 2 both slated for 2026 releases, the excitement from fans is already boiling — and Blumhouse is clearly just getting started.
